Rear Bumper
I cut off the portion of the plate is outside the border. The plate does not exceed the top of the bumper.

Gettin there! Got the bumper back and am now securing the studs to the bumper. By the way total cost on this so far is under 50 bucks in parts. A few progress pics.

Well here are the last of the pictures until I get the car painted this spring the fab. is done and I am turning the finish work over to the body man. My intension was to document the process for anyone wanting to do this mod I am not doing anything wild I just needed to replace one bumperette and the price was too high and I started thinking "I like the look of no rubber at all on the rear bumper and here I am" I will document the final look and adding the license lights when the time comes. I hope this helps to shed light on at least one method to attach studs to the inside of the bumper. I also got rid of the dimples on the bumper which allowed me to add more JB weld to strengthen the back side of the studs.

What about
What about mounting the bumpers closer to the body?
The impact-bumpers must allow for them to "move" back on impact, so what about mounting them closer in the first place? I made some sketches in Photoshop... The ones to the right is original. I think this may work? What do you think? ![]()

Why? You'd want the compression space -

Hey guys...I love those bumpers.... all of them!!!
gsmith660, I can't wait to see how your bumper turns out!!!! Great job!!!! Sadly, I am NOT going to modify my rear bumper on my 87, as planned, after all as I am selling my baby... I'll put it up for sale next week if all works out with the new 911. I would love to keep them both, but just can't.![]() I am purchasing this 1995, 993 this week... I hope! PPI is tomorrow. ![]() I had purchased these NEW Lite-n-Bolt rear plate lights, but now I don't have a use for them. PM me if you want to buy them from me..$25 and I'll pay shipping. ($37.50 retail) ![]() I'm excited, and sad at the same time...these cars do that to you. Jerry

Petter - That looks very cool. Especially for the R bumper. Do you have any 3/4 or looking down views?
Ya know, it would also be a performance upgrade. Think of all that weight you'll be moving forward... ![]() Quote:

I used a jigsaw and a Dremel and a lot of patience to cut the slots. I tried to get my son to do it on one of their cnc's but it is too akward a peice. I am planning to go to Hershey, but this car stays home if we get the typical Hershey weather. (we will be at the Glen 6/20-6/22). Bill K

Here is mine - while I was there I replaced the accordions, bumper strips and valance. Not a perfect job but pretty decent. I am still "iffy" on the "lights N Bolts" for plate lights. They are LED's and have that "blingy" look. I might go back to the pads, who knows.
