Leaking Coil !?
My coil is leaking, of all things. Has anyone had this problem before. I would imagine that if enough fluid seaps out, the coil will over heat and die. I suppose it doesn't help the way the coil is positioned. Can the coil be relocated, using a longer coil wire?

I put my coil right side up on the left side of the engine compartment.
They can leak when upside down. |

Well, leaking it is. Where on the left did you mount it? Did you attach it to the fuse cover?

Bosch coils can be mounted in ANY position.
If its leaking, I would replace it before you get stuck somewhere.

Thanks Steve. Right now it's seepage. I had noticed that there appeared to be oil ON the distributor, I cleaned it and just happened to run my finger under the coil and there was the source. I cleaned it up 2 days ago and nothing else has dripped onto the dist. cap, yet. Why did Porsche mount the coil in such fashion. Now, for me to mount any other way would required splicing wire onto the wires coming from the CDI box and possibly getting a longer coil wire.

The oil is a coolant and these will fail soon after they begin leaking. Your "time" is limited nio matter how you mount it at this juncture,....

I just so happen to have a spare. My question would be though, why did it start leaking in the first place? There appears to be no dent or dings.

Ok, I flipped my coil around, and repositioned the wires coming from the CDI box. Now, where do I get a coil wire to reach?

T-car or Steven, where did you get a coil wire long enought to relocate your coil?
