It's been months since we had a cool collar thread, yay, pleased to see it back.
My contribution; it adds another 25bhp. |

The Cool Collar only works on engines that have rebuilt by Motor Meister!

I experienced reduced engine temperatures in the range of 20F. . . . . only after I installed a center mounted oil cooler!

AshEvan,
Excuse the jokes. The CC has been hashed out here over and over again. Do a search and you will find tons of information on this subject. Long story short, don't waste your money.

It might be good for a few degrees - nothing significant -- except in the statistical sense.
You've unwittingly walked into a long standing joke on this bbs - hence the tenor of the replies.

Thanks for making me laugh my friends!

Honestly, switching to AMSOIL 20W50 from Castrol 20W50 in my '74 (with Carrera oil cooler) dropped the temp by 10 degrees. Try it, it's cheaper than the cool collar...

On a related question...
After replacing the sparkplugs on a cool-collared engine, what's the best way to remove the blood off the cool-collar?

Oh, removing the blood is fairly easy with bleach. I think that was something OJ posted awhile back.

I have popcorn and am subscribing.
Were you a dentist, this is akin to slipping the drill and hitting the root.

It is best used in conjunction with a K&N filter and eRam. Synergistic effect, you know.

I heard that a stock 2.4 'S' TARGA could do 165mph with a cool collar...how else could they keep the temps down?

Banned but not out, yet..

Warning, CCs could add dangerous weight where you don't want it leading to severe and uncontrollable tail wagging.
(I would recommend installng a minimum of 5. Personally I am waiting for new CC 'Ram Air' grill mount scoop coming out this fall.)
