riddle for the pelican gurus 3.2 into 72
with ignition switch on in start position, starter cranks but car will not start/run. with ignition switch on and remote starter switch activated, car will start and run...???????? i have been searching posts for hours, can;t find anyone with same issues please help!
thanks! eric |
Hmm... You may have the fuel pump wired incorrectly, the DME sends power to the fuel pump when crancking and once started. Check power to the fuel pump when cranking (without the remote starter switch). I've heard of cases where the fuel pump received power except when cranking, which is when you really need it - just a thought.

Eric,
I'm with Fernando on this one. Which fuse do you have the fuel pump wired to? On my 73 I have the red/green wire (fuel pump) which comes from the DME connected to the left side of fuse 3 which is labeled "windows". Here is a pic;http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1180737462.jpg But then again, this issue that you have may be with the remote starter switch wiring. Let us know what you find! :) |
thanks< guys...will try tomorrow!

so excited, after 3 years +!!!!!!! off to alignment on monday...then carrera rs decals, and finito!!!! |
see if the switch terminal or fuse terminal loses power when the switch is in starter mode.

Thanks, John...we didnt get to it on saturday....too many little other things to finish...but we did start it 5 or 6 times with the remote, just to listen to the nasty exhaust sound! the alum presure plate and lightened flywheel really bump the revs easily...revs climb like a sport bike when you blip! but clutch is easy and it idles perfectly!!!

it was the dme wire, not receiving power under start position in switch Once again, the pelican community comes to the rescue! Many thanks!
