Side window install on a 83 SC
Hello All,
I really appreciate your help with this....I viewed a few threads on installing the side windows with the trim ring and I believe I am more confused now! Should I install the trim ring first then install the window into the car? Or use the old string trick after the installation of the window into the car?? What is the best way? Is there another ...better way? Thanks again! mg |
I put mine in with the trim in the rubber. Then roped it in.
I can't imagine putting the trim in after the fact as it is very hard to put the trim in the rubber even off the car. The rubber is pretty hard so I put it hot water and let it soak. Didn't help much. It was still a B#%*# to get the trim inthe rubber. Once you hold up the whole assembly to the opening on the car, you will notice that it is about a inch bigger all the way around . You need to put the front part of the seal in the slot by the side window first, then align the assembly so it is even all the way around the opening. With your pull string in place, have someone push inward on the window and seal while you rope it in. This is a very tight fitting window so don't sweat it if you don't get it the first time. Once you get one in, the other one should go in a little easier. It may take a few try's but it will go. If I was to do it again I'd use lots of silicone lube on the seal and body flange. |
Thanks Ron!
I will give it a try tonight! mg |
