11mm Fuel hose?
Good day -
I'm revamping my fuel system and am curious as to where others are sourceing larger diameter fuel line/hose like the 11mm ID section from the tank to the fuel pump? Pelican has it listed, however it has a "ships in 3 days" note along with the statement that it may have to be sourced from Germany. I've done some searching and haven't been able to find it elsewhere. Can someone help? Thanks, Tom

![]() This fuel hose is available in plain rubber and also in Zinc braid. It has an 11mm id and a 16mm od. Most places don't stock it as there is very little demand. I carry the plain rubber, braided zinc, and braided SS in the common 9mm id. ![]() I have been making up various Porsche fuel & oil hose assys for many years, and this is the first request I have heard for this size. If any questions, please email me as my PM box seems to be stuck in the full position. Len@autosportengineering.com ![]() Last edited by BoxsterGT; 06-05-2007 at 09:33 AM.. |

Len -
Thanks for the response. My car is a '74 911. Originally, the fuel pump was in the back, by the DS rear swaybar mount. Due to the vapor lock situation, a previous owner moved it to the front. As a result, there's a bit of a mismash of hose, reducers/enlargers etc.... Really the best thing for me to do would be to replace everything w/one hose - including the plastic line through the tunnel. I'm not sure I'm up for that though at the moment. The original parts diagram called for 11/17.5 fuel line as a supply to the rear mounted pump - see here #9. I still need a similarly sized line from the fuel tank to the fuel pump (in it's new location). When possible and w/in reason, I like to use parts that fit correctly - although I try not to be too crazy about it. I talked to the previous owner who's an independant porsche mechanic and he said when he did the fuel pump relocation, he used some non-metric hose from NAPA. I just got some 1/2" ID that I'm going to try. I tend to make things more difficult than they need to be sometimes. It's a hard balance between what is called for in the parts diagrams, what's readily available and what will really work in the end! Thanks, Tom

1/2" fuel injection hose (from NAPA) worked fine for this application on my 74. I'm a little paranoid when it comes to making changes to the fuel system so I check often for leaks. It's been about 1,000 miles (including track days) since the change and no leaks.

![]() This looks like the suction side of the pump, and is very low pressure. It should not be a problem using US fuel injection hose & the good Norma hose clamps. As a side note, thirty plus years ago, fuel & oil hoses were made using pretty much the same rubber compunds. Today this is no longer the case. Hose mfgrs have had to develop what some describe as "Super Fuel Injection" hose, using compounds made to withstand the effects of a high alcohol content now in our fuel nationwide. It is highly recommended that anytime someone replaces the fuel hose on their Porsche, even when using a Carburetor system, they use the highest quality fuel hose available. Cheers, Len ![]() |

Len,
Those are nice looking lines. As for the NAPA stuff, the hose itself should not be of any concern, it's just a matter of making sure the connections are all tight and secure. I'm not using anything stock, so I can't attest to anything on that side. I can appreciate wanting the correct parts for a street car. Good luck guys.

I used 10mm ID line which fit perfectly but was very difficult to find. I tried 3/8" which is 9.5MM and it was just to small and 1/2" which is about 12.5MM was just to large. Per my caliper measurement, 10 MM was the size needed. I could find no place on the internet where I could order it in small amounts. When I called Pelican I was told they didn't carry it ?? A local foreign repair shop was able to order a 3' piece of the German hose @ $5 / foot which was outrageous but little choice. None of the local European car dealers even carried metric sized fuel lines.

The PMO carb kit comes with metric fuel hose with BMW stamped on the side. Maybe try a BMW dealer?
