Rain kills my battery
My car is normally in a garage or trailer, but has been outside for a few reasons. It rained a lot last night and I water on the floor. My battery was dead & I mean dead, dead.
Wouldn't a short like that heat the wires enough to start a fire? What could it be? Waiting on the charger so I can go to VIR this weekend

They may be separate and unrelated items. Does the battery discharge overnight only if it rains?
If there's even a smallish current drain in the system (e.g. bulb left ON), it doesn't take but an overnight stretch of time to discharge a good battery; much less time on a borderline battery. There are ways of checking the battery and/or the electrical system. Do a search using the terms "parasitic current drain" or "battery discharge". Sherwood |

Just a guess. I'd try to keep the top of the battery dry. Water and traces of acid on the top may create a temporary current path from + to – posts.
.....or disconnect the battery ground cable next time and see if the battery still discharges due to some electrical circuit issue when wet. Sherwood |
