Help! Where do I find my 911 2.4l Engine Code

I am looking to locate my engine cone on the engine, to verify which engine I have. I was told the engine is either a 72 or 73 2.4l with MFI. I want to verify. If you know where to look, please let me know. Thanks!!!

Look at your fan shroud...go to it's 3:00 position...then look down. There will be an upright casting on the engine case. The engine number is stamped there.

OK, that worked!!! It was the ONLY place I didn't look! :)

Now, my engine number is 6130796

I have been told it is a 2.4. It has the mechanical fuel injection. I am now trying to determine if it is the "E" or "S" engine. From what I can see it is either a 72 or 73.

I cannot find any where to decipher the serial number. Any ideas? Anyone?

According to "The Porsche Family Tree", published by The Porsche Club of America, your engine is a 1973 911T engine...your relatively early engine number suggest that it indeed should be bearing MFI.

1973

911T

MFI USA

There should another number close to the first that reads: 911/51

I guess I was expecting or more hoping that it woul dbe the "E" or "S" engine as from what I have found the "T" had carbs.

I just looked and cannot see a number beginning with 911/51. Is it on the same casting as the engine number or on the case itself?

I appreciate everyones help on this!
