lock washers for CV bolts
I saw these in one of marine mags, and immediately thought of using them for my cv bolts.
Anyone use these, or want to comment on them: http://www.nord-lock.com/default.asp?url=2.16.37

I've seen these before but have not use them.
They *seem* to be an improvement over the serrated Schnorr washers, which of themselves are an improvment over normal , serrated-edge Belleville washers ( by having the "tip" of the serration offset to one side, to better resist the "unwind" motion). They may have been discussed on this forum, especially with regard to CV joints. - Wil EDIT: Yeah, here---> Questions on CV boots replacement.

I use them - you have to work at it to get them undone - better than anything I have come across.

Less brakes, more gas!

Those look cool. But, where one might be RnR'ing several times a year I might thing it more of a pain to get them loose. How about just safety wire? Really easy to get off too

I just replace the passenger side CVs and they seem to be thinner than the stock oem ones.....as such my fasteners bottom out. Is there a shorter allen headed bolt available or do I simply put thicker washers under them?

They are not impossible to get off at all - just noticeably more force needed than standard lock washers to remove them - I split/check my CV's several times a year, and I have never had one even think of being loose - previously with the snorr washers, and ordinary lock washers, I have expereinced a couple of loose bolts - since I swapped to the nord-lock's no problems at all - hope fully this continues.
