Ca. historical license plate
Ca dmv says a historical vehicle must be at least 25yrs old with documentation. I read some where that these cars only smog every 5 years. Has anyone heard of this possible loop hole?

My understanding of Cal. smog rules is that any car 1975 and earlier is exempt, therefore historical vehicles would be also-- 1976-82 would be the only ones where the five year rule applies, if there is one. I can see where documentation is needed to qualify as "historic" but I have no clue what kind of documentation is needed. What would make a post 1976 Porsche historic other than a few one of a kind proto-types or championship race cars, most of which would not be driven? Ideas anyone?

From what I understand the historical CA plates are very restrictive. The car can only be used in parades or something to that effect.
