What kind of muffler is this? (see pic)

I just bought a 79 911sc. The original owner gave me this muffler with the car. He said it was too loud for him and that it was around $1500 new. Its in great shape and the tips look nice. It just needs cleaned up. I could not find any markings or brand name on it. Anyone know what kind of muffler it is or what it would be worth?

I agree re "busy"

That metal can probably be put to work in a much better way - toss it in the recycle bin.

I think Im going to bolt it on. I like the look of the dual exhaust rather than the single that is on the car. I think its a borla.

Doubt it's a Borla, usually they're marked, and $1500 would be too much. Must be some kind of European one. I had Cargraphics on my 993 and I don't think they had a logo on them. Maybe worth $400? They look stainless.

Assuming you have backdated heat exchangers or SSIs or headers, as you'll need those to work with that muffler. Post a sound clip, that'd be cool!

I used to have one just like it, but the tips were a little different. It was a Borla.

Thumbs up

it seems to be stainless steel B&B or GHL exhaust...........may be ....

You've got chance , just a re-polished work and it'll shine like brand new one !!!!!!!!

It really looks like B&B just from the form of the can and the tips. Never seen one like it before though...

Won't work w/ stock headers/HE's.

Adds to the loudness factor.

Why wont it work with stock headers? The original owner claims it was on the car for a while & the car has stock headers on it.

It has two inlets. The stock exhaust on a 911SC has one inlet. Perhaps your heat exchangers are not stock?

It must not be stock then. I seen 2 outlets on the car when I was under it.
