DO people RENT Fender Rollers??? change the lips to be Wider in the hips

I have a 77 that needs a little cosmetic hip alteration. I need to roll the fender lips and don't want to own a eastwood fender roller - $300+ tool that I will use one time...... The paint is all stripped off so damage to the skin will not be an issue. I will pay shipping both ways and figure out a way to protect both parties......

use a baseball bat or piece of pipe wrapped up in duct tape and work slowly using the wheel for preasure. many have used this method to their success.

Hello - this is a way that I know about - BUT - I do not have the wheel / tire combo on the car - it is up on stands - wheels off - wheels are getting done in another state - so I have the perfect opportunity to do it with this tool...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Eastwood-Fender-Roller-Heat-Gun-31158_W0QQitemZ250128817422QQihZ015QQcategoryZ4399 8QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Here's the roller you need.

And here's the results...

Car is now running 225/50-16 front, 245/45-16 rear Toyo RA1s.

Plenty of folks roll the lip. However, my minority view:

Narrow the lip the required amount with a grinding wheel, but leave enough material to provide support for the opening. A U-shaped lip will retain moisture and dirt. Difficult to clean and remove mung. Paint can chip off during the bending maneuvers. Once the lip is rolled, it's more difficult to add more clearance at a later date.

Sherwood

rolling will not make your fenders wider it just gives you a slight more room so your tires dont rub the inner edge.
