Fan is stuck, is there a trick or do I need to use a special puller?

When you take off the pulley, fan belt, and shims, you will find evenly spaced holes that are in the fan. Those holes might be threaded, if not, thread the holes for IIRC, a 6mm bolt... screw two long bolts into the threaded holes across from each other. The fan will easily come off as you use the bolts to push the fan off of the alternator shaft.... hope this helps...

While Turbo's solution may work, most of us just use gravity (see JW's post): Fan hsng, alternator removal

if you can't get enough force on it by hand, take some heavy gauge electrical wire, and put a 180 degree bend in it. push it through a slot in the fan, and pull it around 2 or more blades, and then back through so you can grab it. do it with the other side of the wire on the other side of the fan. when you're done it should be a heavy wire looped around blades on two sides of the fan. Grab some gloves, and really yank on the fan, it should come out easily. make sure you have it around enough blades, and that it is balanced first, you dont want to break anything
good luck Bob
