Suspension Project Finally Done!
After almost two months of working and collecting parts, I have finally finished my suspension project. I've done the following:
- 22mm/29mm Sway-Away torsion bars - Bilstein shocks revalved by Smart Racing Products to match the t-bars - Carrera sway bars - 22mm front/ 21mm rear - Neatrix spring plate bushings - Lowered ride height to just below Euro (about 25 1/4" f/ 24 3/4" r) Also, as a while I was in there type thing, I rebuilt the front brake calipers, replaced the front rotors, and re-packed the wheel bearings. I tests drove it a few times yesterday, there is definitely a big difference on tight turns. It feels like there is no body roll at all. I also thought it would be really rough on bumps, but it isn't. It's not much worse than my original suspension. I can't wait to auto x the new mods to see how it really feels. Now I just need to do an alignment and get everything set up. Thanks for everybodys help and advice. Here's some pics of the new stance (taken with my black berry at sundown): ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice work, Matt !
You mention no body roll any more. Among all your upgrades, would the sway bars make the biggest contribution in that sense ?

I would say the biggest contributer to that is the stiffer torsion bars, larger sway bars, and dropping the ride height. Without doing all three, I don't think you would significantly reduce body roll.

Congrats on the redo. I went through this two years ago and the difference it makes is night and day. Forget about engine mods. Nothing makes these cars more fun than a tight suspension.

I agree with Matt on the anti-body roll contributing factors. It's the whole package but I will say this, that if your looking for just one place to spend your money due to limited funds. Start with the torsion bars. Anti-roll bars should be last on the list IMO. Bigger torsion bars will not only make your car feel like it has bigger anti-roll bars because of the help it offers to them. They also help prevent squat, dipping and bottoming out. The bottoming out part of the equation means you can lower the car more which in turn helps prevent body roll.
