Are All 11 Blade Fans the Same?

I have an early (901) alternator & housing and a later one (911). Both have 11 blade fans. Are the fans interchangeable? I know the alternators and housings are different, but I can't tell with the fans.

John

John,
I think the actual castings are the same its the pulleys that are slighty different diameter and design. The early pully has 8 large holes in it. The later SC/turbo 11 blade has 16 small holes in it. I think the carrera pulley is also slotted. I know the pulleys can be removed and swapped around.

The last picture is the fan I have on my car. The early pulley was removed and replaced with a SC era pulley.

There are a couple different 11 blade fan outside diameters. I think the 78/9 SC has a smaller dia than others.

Do a search.

There are 3 different 11-blade fan diameters used over the years. There is the 226mm used in 78-79 SC, and the 245mm used on most other years (before and after 78-79), and there is the very early 250mm fan (debatable when this was used 1965-196X, X=6,7,8?).

Thanks. I am switching from a 901 set-up to a 911 Carrera set-up and I can't get a belt to fit. I have a 725 and a 710, but they are both too big. I run a Clewett trigger wheel which is slightly undersized.
I used a 710 on the 901 set-up, but it is too big on the 911 set-up using either one of the pullies.

Yeah, sorry about that John..I thought we were just talking about the 245mm..and yes there was that oddball 250mm and the smaller 226mm
I'm using the larger 78/79 crank pulley and the smaller 80-83 fan pulley on my car. I'm using the original 78/ 79SC belt..725. For the record my fan was from a 901 housing. I just swapped the pulley. My current housing is a 930.106.102 0R that replaces the stock 78/79, 930-106-101-0R.

Do you have any cast partnumber on those?
