911 SC Book by Adrian Streather
I just finished a review of Adrian's new SC book. I got my copy from the publisher in the UK, Veloce. I think it is also available from Amazon and Motorbooks. For anyone considering ordering Adrian's book, the ISBN is 1-84584-002-X/UPC 7-81845-84002-0. The book is recommended reading for anyone considering their first purchase of an SC, or anyone wanting more details of this popular 911 model.
For those who have considered purchasing the book, but have not yet made up their minds, here is a list of the chapters: 1. The Super Carrera 2. Owning a 911 SC 3. 911 SC engines 4. 911 SC engine systems 5. Transmission 6. Running gear, Wheels and Tyres 7. The Body 8. Systems 9. DIY Guide to Fault Finding 10. DIY 11. More bang for your buck 12. Racing and rallying Also included are three appendices with production data, codes, etc. There are lots of photos; most every page of the 400+ pages has 2 to 3 photos. Some photos are of Pelicanite's cars, engines, etc. The book (in my opinion) wasn't designed to take the place of detailed technical data, like the factory repair manuals, but to give a comprehensive overview of the SC, per the chapter titles listed above. One detail found in Adrian's book I have found nowhere else is the mention on pages 91 and 96 of the 3.1 liter factory upgraded engine, one of which I recently bought as a used engine without knowing it's history. For quite some time, I thought I had bought someone's kluge put together from odd parts. (Thanks for the info, Adrian.)

Paul, Here is the info on Adrian's SC book: Title: Porsche 911SC: The Essential Companion Author: Adrian Streather Available: Now from the publisher, Veloce. <www.veloce.co.uk> Their price is 34.99 (pounds). Also check Amazon and Motorbooks in the US. I think Amazon may have the best price in the US. At one time, Amazon said availability was around Dec. 1st. I got on Veloce's notification list some months ago, and when they emailed out notice that the book was available, I convinced them I needed a complimentary review copy.

FYI, Veloce Books just sent out an e-mail coupon for 40% off. I'm not a past customer or anything, so it must be unrestricted. The discount code (enter on checkout) is WP056.
40% off almost turns Pounds into Dollars!

Hi Bill,
My nephew pre-empted my attendance at Road Atlanta by deciding to get married in Naples, FL that same weekend. Our lack of attendance at the wedding would have been noticed, and would probably have been the source for some long lasting ill feelings.... :^]

I see copies of this book are now available used from a large online book-seller. What's your view, Super Carrera owners? Is this book a good addition to the Porsche bookshelf?

One item in this book that I haven't seen documented very well elsewhere is a description of how to use an old CIS fuel injector to back-flush other CIS injectors. Interesting stuff.
