Cool Twin 8" woofers + 240 watt sub amp = 106dB stereo pics

Happy Happy JOY JOY.

Finally got some great thump out of my 911SC car stereo, and didn't loose any front trunk space or rear seat room with them folded down. CLEAN install.

Sony 610 front end deck 4x14 watt, powering efficient door speakers and 4x6 rear deck speakers, Aftermarket, but I forget the brand;
Sony deck is Ipod and USB memory stick ready, plus gives you 6 preset and adjustable 3 band eq settings......fine for the mids and high end, but where was the bass? nope, none, nadda.

Picked up a used car audio innovation carpet covered board and twin 8" JL Audio woofers from a fellow pelicanite. 8W3 drivers.

Mounted an old 240 watt bridged mono Carver Car Stereo Amp under the drivers seat for the woofers. Sony deck allows either 75hz or 125 hz cross-over point for the woofers, I'm running it at 125hz as I like the warmth this brings and the 8" provide great tight bass.

Pulled out my dB meter and just at 1/2 volume I was reading a constant 104dB reading at ear height with 106db peaks. I could push the stereo harder, but you could tell the door and rear deck speakers didn't like the distortion from the deck amp. Carver amp and 8's fill in so much lower energy. Not overpowering at all but solid bass.

I LOVE IT!!!

I still like the stereo off sometimes with the windows down to hear the SSI headers and Monty muffler sing their 6 cylinder song, but when tunes are needed I've got enough power on-board now to ACCURATELY thump with the best of them. I hate ricer cars with sloppy 12" woofers you can hear a block away, and will take accurate balanced tight sound reinforcement any day.

No need for another amp for the mids and tweets, I wouldn't want any more amps/current draw from the weenie porsche alternator either.

Enjoy the pics of my clean install, hope it helps others find solid bass!

Another benefit of the woofer mounting board is I'm thinking of mounting a 5 pound Halon Fire bottle vertically between the two woofers, handy to grab from between the front seats and won't clutter up the front seat area.
