Help! New RS LWFW Burnt Smell

Just had factory RS LWFW with clutch (all factory parts) put in my 1990 C4 Cabrio. I have driven car for approx. 200 miles and am still getting burnt clutch smell (smells like dead fish) when car is reved to 1500 rpm and greater in first. I am not doing launches, etc. If I delicately feather clutch it does not smell, but it almost smells. Is this normal? Does clutch need to break in more? Is it possible to install flywheel, ring gear, clutch, etc. wrongly? Thanks for your help!

Sounds to me like maybe someone didn't clean the cosmoline off the flywheel. Burnt clutch doesn't smell like dead fish, it smells like, well, burnt asbestos.

My guess is it will take a while to burn off the cosmoline or whatever oil they packed the flywheel with to prevent rust during shipping.

I am interested in a solid answer on this one if some one knows.
Very interesting. Never smelled clutch slip like fish.

I will contact shop on Monday to see if they followed proper cleaning procedure. Any more feedback would be appreciated.

I looked in engine compartment. Where the blower motor comes off the engine, the tube is not connected completely below the blower motor. I am wondering if that is why I am getting an unnatural amount of clutch burn in the passenger compartment. Just a thought.
