Drop the fan on top of two boards several times, it should pop out.

It is a press fit. Once the nuts are removed around the edge, it should fall out with a few raps. Some resort to banging on the shaft with a BFH, but I've never had any problem with the method I posted above. You might try a little heat around the edge to see if the fan will expand enough to loosen it.

I beleive the above method works well removing the alternator form the housing, but he's asking about removing the fan.
Squirt some PB Blaster around the center bolt. You need to have it perfectly square to get it to slide off, and sometimes it takes some wiggling. I've even had to use a gear puller once to pull one off.

And when you get the fan off, be careful that the woodruf key on the shaft doesn't fall into the alternator, or under the work bench, or, well you get the idea. And remember to reinstall it when re-mounting the fan on the shaft. Getting the key to stay in place when installing fan can be a PIA, but if it is not located correctly the fan will not slide onto the shaft easily.

Good Luck
Andrew

My fan is always hard to remove - clean it up once a year. I insert #14 house wire between the holes on opposite sides of the fan and twist forming loops into which I inset the fan wrench. This gives me some leverage and a couple good pulls and it's off. Usually remove the fan first when removing the alternator.
