RSR tire sizes
Given the resurgence of interest in building RSR replicas, what are the options for tires for these cars? I know, I know... put 17's on. Problem is, I don't think 17's look right on longhoods. No flames, please, just my opinion.
It seems I read recently that manufacturers are bringing back performance tires in the smaller diameters, but I've searched the threads and can't find anything that leads me to believe that anyone makes 15" or 16" street tires any wider than 245. I don't need the latest performance tire here (can always go to 17's for the track) but if I take the trouble to build up an RSR I'd like to make up (or find) some 11" wide Fuchs wheels in either 15" or 16". No sense in this, though, if there are no tires available. Anyone have any new information on availability for these sizes? |
when my rsr clone had 9 &11x15 fuchs the tires were 215/60-15 front and 265/50-15 rear. they were bfg comp t/a and were not the best but looked great on the car. i sold the wheels to pay for 17" lindseys and a set of bbs race wheels. i also needed larger brakes that would not have fit behind them.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182548376.jpg

We have a few sets of NEW yokohama AVS 285/40 x 15 tires left. After they are gone, we don't know what else to use except the Michelin TB race rubber from Coker tire

You're right, Gestalt. They DO look great. And you raise a good point about brakes. I will probably use 930 calipers and since I will probably have to have some wheels made up anyway, 16" wheels would probably be a better choice. Any 16" options out there?
