As you evidently already know, this is the classic symptom for a failed CV joint. You were right to check CV boots first, but CV joints can fail even when the boot is intact, as when the grease dries up. In your case, it sounds like the right outboard CV joint is suspect.
I'd probably get out the manual and start with pulling things apart far enough to be able to inspect the CV joint. Unfortunately, this is quite a bit of work. If the diagnosis is confirmed, then you can either replace the CV joint which is a little cheaper but a lot more work, or replace the whole axle, which is much easier but more expensive. Either way, our host has the parts. Hope that helps.
