identify mystery 3.0
Here is the motor out of the 81 I'm parting out (and why we bought the car)
Case number shows it as a 3.0, but it has signs of being rebuilt. #1 are the weber 46ida's and the carrera oil sump cover, also has hydro tensioners. I pulled the intakes and found the ports were opened to 37mm. ![]() ![]() Anyone have suggestions on how to figure out what the cams, pistons, and cylinders are, without taking the entire engine apart? TIA

Don't think you can. A modified exhaust system and Webers point to an attempt at squeezing out extra horses, so maybe there are more goodies under the skin. You could try asking the PO. Just my 2c. worth.
Happy hunting, Mike. |

PO didn't know what he had.....wanted to use it in a trike motor bike (hehehehehe) He did mention 8.5k in motor work the guy he got it from had done. It certainly was pretty at one time.
Silly part of the motor, even with the headers and web 46's, it had ac hooked up and the cruise control......someone wanted to go fast in comfort.
