Mounting Recaro SPG XL to factory mounting points without sliders on 1985 911?

Has anyone done this?

Are there any "off the shelf" brackets that will work without modification or with minimum modification?

I did this exact thing.

The Recaro brackets mount up very well (look cool as well) with the stock seat rails. Worst case is that you drill 2 holes, but I think mine lined up perfectly.

Great seats. Enjoy them!

Fitted mine a couple of weeks back using Recaro side mounts. Had to drill a couple of holes, but an easy job!

Thanks for your posts! They are a relief because I was expecting more modifications. I have more questions and requests though:

1. Would you mind posting pictures of the installation showing the attachments between the bottoms of the brackets and the car mounting points? My measurements show that the Recaro bracket holes are about 1/2" inside the car mounting holes AND that modifying the Recaro brackets would be difficult because the hole would interfere with the bracket bend.

2. What are your inseam sizes? I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be able to get the seats back far enough for my 35" inseam legs.

3. Assuming that you are using the stock seat belts, how did you mount your inboard seat belt receptacles?

I mounted my Sparco EVO2 directly to the factory rails, but I could not use any of the factory holes and had to drill new ones on both the mounts and the rails. I recommend making a template using a sheet of cardboard so that you know exactly where to drill the holes (attach mounts to seat, place seat on cardboard, trace sliders with a pen, remove seat, place template over factory rails, align, drill).

JP911,

Good idea, thanks for the post.
