How to power alarm

My car came with an aftermarket alarm. Typically how do these alarms get their power. Yes, I know the battery...but where do they run the wire. Is it as simple as running a wire to the battery or is it done in a more round about way. Thanks in advance.

what year is your car... I think I have a diagram of sorts.... The alarm is most likely tied into the main harness under the dash... you will have 1 hot wire and one ignition wire... amongst others....

Let me know I’ll post the diagram if I have it for your car.

I have an 88 Turbo Cab. Just a reminder, I'm not talking about the factory alarm. I'm talking about powering an aftermarket alarm. Thanks again.
