Is there any reason (other than cosmetics) to keep the rocker covers on an SC coupe? I tend to prefer the clean look of the earlier cars and have been considering removing the covers.

The only reason I can think of is some additional protection from wear and tear and possibly some rust prevention. Ultimately, though it probably doesn't make a lot of difference. I say take 'em off if it pleases you.

This is an SC without the rockers. Done right you'll want to fill the screw holes and add a strip of textured paint protection in their place like they did on the earlier cars. Bonus? A drop of a few lbs...12 or so IIRC and a cleaner look. Down side? Car will look like it is riding higher.

For comparison, here's the direct opposite; my early 911 with late SC rockers.

Thanks, guys, that is what I wanted to see. I like the SC/RS look with the fiberglass bumpers and the Duck tail. Goodbye rockers!

I remember reading on this forum somewhere that removing the rockers changes aerodynamics quite a bit. Anyone know about this?

Suspension improvements had some to do with that but not a lot imo. Splitter up front and less lift on the front end made a difference I think. The duck isn't that far off the RSA tail for control at high speed. ![]() |
