Does anybody know a good starting set up?

2.7 JE pistons single plugs 9.8:1, E cam , 1.75" headers with single muffler

Just checked the headers as it seemed to be causing some consternation, they are 1.5"

Steve, Just for this test, I'd recommend you dump the Webers and
get yourself an old Holley 4 barrel off an old Camaro!

Porsche Crest

1.75" headers are way too large for a street-driven 911 with a 2.7 on Solex or 'E' cams. You will lose a lot of bottom-end torque and mid-range responsiveness!

size venturi to engine pump max rpm. Weber has a formula which i can't find.

60 idles at 2 turns is rich for my 8.5:1 engine.

135 mains is slightly rich for it also

adjust acceleration circuit flow last. adjust as lean as possible

use two flow meters to synchronize the pair

use a muffler w/a balance tube

i use NGK BPR5ES. Seems most around here use BP5ES

do upgrades. Fuel bowl vents, etc

Webers can be a pia to adjust w/correct exhaust pipes. Warren is completely correct.

Why look for unnecessary and of no benefit problemic large exhaust tubes?

SGibson, I see the headers are really 1 1/2" (you editited the first post).

Early-S-Man, does this change any of the recommendations for the carb set-up:
2.7, E cams, 9.8:1, single plugs:
34 Chokes
140 Mains
180 Air Jets
55 Idle
F1 Emulsions with Tall Secondaries?

BT1211....now that is a hot rod....

Boy I would love to have a choke on my carburator. I wonder how that runs. I would assume its got tons of low end which is what I love about my solex cams and I would love some more! If only the old Dr. Porsche had installed some chokes then you wouldn't have to pump the pedal so much to start the car and then the bushings wouldn't wear out in the Webers so much and then the cars would be on the road more rather than sitting waiting for carburator maching which would lead to better sales for him and the people who needed more air flow could have taken the chokes off. But seriously, who cares about the restriction of some tiny chokes!? The only Porsche design flaw I know of.

discussed before -- not sure what you should search on

it works worse than the 6 tube setup that we use (surprised that the Germans do things better than the US hotrods???)

you can think about it this way - shouldn't each cylinder get its own tube? why should it be forced to share?
