Car bogs down/ eratic idle after valve adjustment

Ok, here's the chain of events.
I tuned up my "new" 76 2.7, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and coil, and then did my first valve adjustment, ran great, couldn't belive the difference. After a long drive of about 120 miles came back home and valves were a little noisy, (perfect until it got hot) but way better than before.
I decided to have a "professional" do another valve adjustment because I figured I didnt get it quite right and didnt want to screw something up.
Well. I picked the car up and the valves were just as noisy if not worse!
Car started bucking/bogging down and popping with eratic idle after it got hot, after driving about 80 miles or so.Figured I would let it sit overnight, worse today, seems a little better in higher gears but stills bucks tach is jumping 500- 700- 1k.
At idle there is a definte miss.
Sorry this is so long but I wanted to include as much so as to help you help me.
Feels like ignition?
Thanks

Rich

Did you check that all wires to plugs and distributor are fully seated? I Would start by checking everything you know the wrench would have had to touch.

Yes, first thing I did.. I figured that might be it since it ran ok for the ride home, thought something came loose, pulled of top of airbox, checked vacuum to dizzy, pulled off all plug wires, both ends.
Valve noise is loud, could this be caused by a valve out of adjustment?
I dont think so, b ut not sure.
I had my INGNITOR on the front seat when I dropped it off, he said he would throw it on, came to pick up the car and he was just installing it and stopped, gave me a line that it wont work with the coil?????
Told him thats absurd, asked if he was talking about/ confusing an MSD which requires a Bosch Blue coil, he said no and put the points back in.
Didnt give me the instructions back, so I'll have to try and get that next week.

There are a number of things to check, here are the most obvious:
1. Check points if you have them, also verify timing is correct.

2. Carefully check the distributor cap and rotor for any signs of defects or cracks.

3. How are your plug wires? They could be arching across. Run car in garage in darkness and see if there is a light show between wires.

4. Start searching for vacuum leaks if your car is CIS, although vacuum leaks alone normally wouldn't cause the car to missfire.

My first hunch would be points and timing. Loose valves would not cause car to buck and miss. Good luck.
