Rear Wheel hub question
I am going to replace my wheel bolts, among other items, on the rear of my 911. When I disasembled the right wheel I noticed once I go to the wheel hub it moves somewhat when you move it from side to side. I am guessing it moves about 1mm to 2 mm in any direction and makes a bump noise. The bearing spins okay but not like I would imagine it might. Right now the CV shaft is disassembled and the drive shaft has been removed from the hub assembly for cleaning and just checking it out.
Is this movement in the wheel hub an indication the rear bearing needs to be replaced. The bearing is only two years old. I had both rears replaced by a mechanic at that time. Seems to me the bearing should not fail this soon. As I am adding new CV axels should I replace the rear bearings as well?
