Thumbs up Which Pelican has helped you the most?

OK, here's a challenge. You have to list the name of one Pelican who has helped you the most with your car. I'm sure most of you have been assisted by many of the fine folks here, but that's why this is a challenge, you only get to list one person.

Who has helped you out the most (remember, only one person)...

I'll start:

Tab Tanner

Reading other people's threads on which Warren Hall, John Walker and Grady Clay have responded have helped me the most.

+1 on all the above and throw in Tony G, he lives about 1 mile from me. He helped pull the DB4 motor, put it back in, pull the Targa motor, and helped me bleed the brakes on my pop up camping trailer this morning. Just about every time I go to his house he gives me something for free, an A/C condensor, can of brake fluid, steering wheel...

If we are answering by who has helped PHYSICALLY on your car, that would have to be CarreraDan. He stayed at my house until 2am (or was it 3am) helping me with my first valve adjustment on a 911. A close second would have to be KCinBR. He stayed as long as he could (he had to work the next day and 5am comes early). Thanks again guys!

As far as written help, that's a toss up. Many, many threads and a wealth of information here! Everyone, thanks - this forum, as well as the parts and tech section on this site is invaluable! Thanks Wayne!

Using Milt's logic, whic makes very good sense, I guess I have to change my vote to Wayne since without this forum, I probably would never have met Tab or anyone else here... Wayne it is!

My vote is also for Wayne - Pelican.

But while this thread is going how bout some better directions, complete names, etc. to the places where these guys are giving away stuff and helping with overhauls etc. Be specific with enough info to get it into a GPS unit. No phone numbers needed as we can just show up.

Also include a list of information on what stuff they might have and services they provide, tools loaned out, loaner vehicles, cast off girl friends, time they usually eat, type of beer they have on hand - you know the kind of stuff that is useful.

I've received direct help in my threads from almost everyone perviously mentioned, but I've got to add Steve Wong as well.

Thank you everyone!

I am already forced to violate the rules because I just can't name one because so many have helped in so many different ways.

Wayne is obviously the first choice because this forum has introduced me to so many quality people and in four years created the SOCG (South Orange County Gruppe) and built lifelong friendships with a common interest in mind. The SOCG has grown to more than just drives but to sharing family together and life events from Superbowl Sundays to Christmas Dinners to Moving Away so I am forever in debt in that respect.

I have quite a list of those who have been there for me so I will not be specific but I all I can truly say is thanks. You guys are my extended family.

Many have been inspirational - like Jim Sims. Many have shared profound knowledge - like Grady Clay. Many have shared their time generously in amazing ways - like the crew who "restored" the widow's 911. Many have shared expertise in a specific area (and usually not limited to that) - like Bill Verburg, Warren, John Walker. Many have shared history - like Curt Edgerer. Almost everyone has shared their beautiful, beautiful cars - highlighted by Jack, Rdane, Chris N. And thanks to Wayne, we all have a virtual bar to benchrace and share the collective wisdom of many great people.

Grady Clay...hands down...but this is NOT a slam on Wayne or anybody else mentioned here. You see, Grady told me how, then helped me align my old car when it was atop a race car trailer, at Woody Creek, Colorado...back in 1976. Strings, jack stands, and wrenches the tools. After this trackside alignment, I drove over Independence Pass to his Denver shop, where the suspension was not only fixed, but dramatically improved. Without Grady? I'd have never been able to drive home to Oregon.

Grady, I may be out of the car thing at this time, but I'll NEVER forget you...your smiling face, your handlebar mustache, your great driving skills....the ride with you around the track was something else, and also watching you as Alan Johnson told us that you were showing us all, by driving, the proper lines....

Well, it was a great 4th of July bicentennial weekend!

Chris Bennet... hands down. Before Pelican was a twinkle in Wayne's eye... before Rennlist was established... Chris helped me out beyond the call of duty... lent me his car for two weeks while mine was down for a tranny rebuild in HIS garage. Helped me out at my first track day etc etc etc

That's Michael Wildt, Mark Hald, Chris, and myself "Messin' with 911s" and fixing my tranny.

Best regards,

Michael
