tail fit up problem on an SC

Thanks for your help!!!

I have installed a new deck lid / Tail on my 83 SC, The problem I am having is that it is dragging on the center of the lid / car when I close and open it....how do I fix this? All the seam spacing look pretty good. If anything it looks like there isnt enough bow in the lid...what should I do?

Thanks again for your help!

Post some pictures so we can see the entire setup.

I just refitted my deck lid yesterday after doing a few fan adjustments for my ac. Had the same issue when I put it on. Just losen the deck lid screws and move it. The screw holes have play in them. If you have some binding at the back of the deck at the rear window pull the deck lid out toward the bumper just a little. tighten it down a little and see how it fits. it's all trial and error. It took me almost and hour to get mine in the right spot.

Good luck.

You say you have a new decklid? It needs to be fitted to the body. You may have to (carefully) remove the allen bolts that hold the decklid to the body, and add a shim between the decklid and the hinge bracket. This will raise the decklid so that it clears the body at the base of the rear window.

I used stainless steel fender washers that I got from Orchard Supply Hardware.

There are other adjustments too, such as the fore/aft that Elu mentions, and the rubber bumpers can be turned in or out to align the decklid lip with the top of the tail light.

Don't worry, it's easy to do and you'll get it to line up.

ahhh...I forgot that part. I did the washer thing too. Added on the back two allen screws to lift the back end up.

Thanks for the help guys!!

I ended up using the washer concept and with a hour or so of fine tuning it looks pretty good!

Thanks again!!
