OK my alternator is out of the car
Thanks to all who responded with advice on getting my alternator rebuild here in Cincy. I have decided to just exchange it.
I want to build a relationship with a shop in the area that has a good rep so I'm taking their suggestion on this one and letting them order me one. They were very friendly and helpful and took me in the back and showed me their track cars and all the work they are doing for others. Offered any assistance and support that I need on this my first project with the Carerra. That brings up another point. I didn't intoduce myself with my first post. After more than a year of looking I found my perfect Porsche. It's a 1987 911 Carerra with the G50 and just rolled 73,000 miles. No mods except the radio. It has almost complete service records from the local Porsche dealer and is in very good shape. Guards Red with a whale tail. Got a good PPI done before hand and made a deal we both were happy with. (Maybe me more than him). I knew at the PPI the it was charging a little high but in the past month it got worse so thought I would go ahead and swap out the alternator/regulator. Anyway thanks again to all with your replies. It amazes me how friendly and open people are with their advice and help to those with nothing more in common than the love of a car. Matthew |
