Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix - BeaveRun this weekend?
Anyone in the vicinity planning on making their way out to the races at BeaveRun this weekend?
I guess the whole thing is part of the Pitt. Vintage Grand Prix, and there is also a joint BMW/Porsche club event as well. I've never been to the PVGP, but I hear great things about it. I'm definitely going to try and check out some of the events next week in Pittsburgh, but I am also considering making the trip this weekend. Anyone else? - Damion

Beaverun is new compared to WG, Mid-Ohio etc. It's not wonderful as a spectator, since you can't get close to the turns. However, it is small enough that you can see much of the track from a single vantage point.
The following weekend the event is at Schenly Park in Pgh. It's really a unique venue. A narrow, difficult course in a public park and golf course with very unforgiving 4" high granite curbs. You will only see older stuff at Schenly, not terribly fast, but wonderful vehicles with great heritage. I don't every recall seeing a 911 run through Schenley. Saturday is British Car day, but all the marques have concours events that day. The local PCA always has a tent, you can check out their website at www.arpca.com. Both days are fun

I'll be at Schenley Park on 7/14. I'll be in my truck, though.

I'm planning on being there either on 7/14 or 15.
Damion, in addition to the races, there is a car show of sorts on the golf course that is broken down by marque. There is always a great Porsche section. You can park your car on the golf course for, I think, around $20. Enter Schenley Park from the Squirrel Hill side and they will direct you to the Porsche section. This will be the first time I've been there with my 911, because I just bought it last November. I've taken my Mini Cooper to the PVGP several times, though. It is a great event that always has some great cars. I was thinking it would be nice to see which cars are owned by people on this board. I'm going to put a Pelican Parts sticker either on the dash or on the piece of paper for the PVGP that gives info about the car and who owns it. Sound like a good idea for those who attend? Hope to meet some of you guys there. Mike |

Mike,
Sounds like a great idea. I think I have a pelican parts sticker laying around here somewhere, I'll leave it on the dash of my car. - Damion
