Horn wont stop blowing - 70 911
When I took my Momo wheel off and replaced it with an original wheel, my horn began blowing. I have switched between my round 912 horn button and the original butterfly. I have switched contacct pins. What else could be causing this? I finally had to remove the relay.

Same thing happened to me--haven't fixed it yet but about a year ago a thread was started by someone that put one of those rings from the cap of a gallon of milk under the butterfly and that solved it.

Either the two contact rings under the horn pad are touching or, like on my '86 you didn't tape off the second horn ground wire and it is touching inside the column. Not sure if your '70 had two ground wires. Don't even know why my '86 does.

Rubber cup is fine. Like I said, I have tried two caps, so I am a bit mystified

Here's the link--it was the cap not the ring...

Turned out to be the steering wheel itself. I got looking close and noticed that one of the mounting flanges for the horn button was ever so slightly tweaked out on one corner. This was just enough to contact the horn button and blow the horn.
Feels good to figure one out ![]()

Warning!! Danger!!! Danger!!!
My son purchased a 1966 911 project car. I was over helping him get it running. He told me the horn went off for no reason and he had to unplug it? Ok what ever, lets get this thing fired up. Is what I was thinking. While we had it running and both our heads under the hood. He looked up and said Holy Sh*# and went running to shut the car off. I looked up to see a cloud of smoke. After the smoke cleared we discovered that he unplugged it at the horn. (and I did not think anything of it) The Hot wire grounded its self on the horn and burned up most of the wiring all the way up to the fuse box. Make sure you pull the relay and maybe the fuse untill you fix it. It turned out the wire in the aftermarket steering wheel came off and grounded it self. All I can say is Freak accident but be carefull.
