What's the skinny on mounting a 914 steering wheel on 911?

Looking for some advice. I thought the 380mm 914 steering wheel would mount up onto the early 911. Now I am hearing it may require some modification. Anyone know the details?

Brent - first you need to remove the indicator-cancelling ring (3 screws).

Next there's a black plastic 'spacer' (approx 3in deep) attached to the rear of the wheel with 4 (deeply recessed) screws which needs to be removed - these screws are often very tight.

After removal, you will need to drill/tap/countersink 2 holes in the rear of the hub in order to be able to fit the 911 indicator-cancelling ring - use this to establish the position of these holes.
