Is this bent?

I have pretty severe negative camber on the passenger side so I took the insert out and look what I found. Any comments about what happened here would be welcomed. The rub marks are nearly 180 degrees out from each other but the bad one is near the top and the other is near the bottom. The insert doesn't look bent visually, could it be the housing?

No, that isn't blood.

the two bushings in the housing do that over time. what gets bent is the spindle itself where it wraps around the strut body.

Is there anything else that will cause the negative camber? I t appears the previous owner hit something because the cross member was broke too. I just replaced that, it wasn't a major break but I noticed it. The body doesn't appear to be damaged. I did notice that when I had the car up to replace the cross member that the strut body was off center in the cover. On the driver side it was centered but the passenger side the gap was about 1/4" toward the body and about 1/2" toward the wheel.

With the car on the ground lie on your back and reach up to put your finger between the inside edge of the tire and the shock cover on each side and see if there is a difference in gap, I had a bent spindle and that check confirmed it right away.

with the wheel off, and a bright flashlite; check the gap surrounding the spindle casting to the shock tube. If it is equal, then its straight. If shut down on one side, then its bent
