sunroof wind deflector clips

I have a friend whose son thought to climb out of my sunroof. He grabbed onto the wind deflector and "SNAP!" I looked for replacements at The Pelican Parts catalog, and the only ones they sell are black and fit 1983s on... Mine are, were, silver, and slightly different in configuration. Does anyone know where I might find a couple? Is someone out there parting out a car that still has these on board? Thanks. O.K.

You don't say which clips, but you might try http://www.***************/ProductCatalog.aspx?f=search&term=sunroof&C=T

Oliver,
Welcome to the world of near "unobtainium." You have the three piece deflector that folds forward, right? If you can take a picture or be more specific about the part, it will help. The link provided, above, may help but if you checked the price--some of the pieces are sky-high (check out the right side deflector cost $395). Most likely you'll have to find it used--just keep asking around like you've done. Advertise on the For Sale forum. I have seen deflectors advertised from time to time, so be patient and persistent. Good hunting

I'm in the same boat. The right side of the deflector is broken. The sunroof still works it just doesn't look right. I think the used route is the way to go.

Yes, you are right. 'Clip' is the wrong word. I believe the part in question is a hinge which folds over when the roof closes. This hinge also holds the deflectors themselves onto the car. It is silver metallic plastic. Does anyone have a line on these? Does any one know of a good wrecking yard that deals with old Porsches? Or an esoteric parts shop? I did try ***************, but they did not have the part either...

Oliver,

Someone had a thread on the board recently about this exact hinge part and I believe there was a response about a possible repair--not quite sure. The thread wasn't too long ago so the poster may respond. Try a search on "sunroof deflector, deflector hinge" or some such reference.

There is a huge Porsche dismantler in SoCal, think they are in the San Fernando valley, maybe around SunValley?

They were gigantic, worth a try but cant remember the name, suggest you go to anywho.com or switchboard.com and try that unless some of the guys in SoCal know its name....?

Thank you all very much for your input. I have contacted Parts Heaven and am awaiting their response. RoninLB, where did you find the one piece unit? Also, these hinges seem to be spring loaded. If I remove the top plate to reset the hinge will parts/pieces go flying? That's always interesting when you don't expect it...

here is picture of the hinge/clip along the deflector. The silver vertical strips holding the deflectors down. One broken one sits on the fender. Does anyone out there know where these can be found. I tried Parts Heaven of So. Cal., but they did not have any... Thanks.
