MSD wiring

Well it seems there were so many posts regarding MSD issues I thought I would post this.

for 6 years my MSD has been wired and running very well. I since sent my dizzy out for recurving and found out it needed to be rebuilt as well(supertec).. when I got it back in the car it ran like crap. I verified everthing with a stock 79 sc dizzy I have here as well and it worked the same way as my rebuilt unit so I determined it was not the fine rebuilt unit I have. It had to be some thing else. So messed with everything and soon decided to swap the MSD signal wires polarity. Now this was not changed at all for 3 years and I was able to get the dizzy timed fine before however with the wires switched the car ran perfect much better then it ever did. So my only question here is it possible for the trigger in the dizzy change polarity? I think not I just think the dizzy was so screwed up before it worked ok.. oh the other tell tail was that when I hooked up the vacum advance the engine would almost die.. I hope this helps someone out I just can't believe it ran so well before but how much better it runs now ..

thanks again supertec for a great job on the dizzy

Ben, its absolutely possible to switch polarity for the relucter. This will cause the trigger to be on the negative slope rather than the positive slope. This can cause the timing to be off by almost 20 deg.

The new dist looks great. I am sure Henry did a great job. I have one I want to send to him for a twinplug update and rebuild.
