Shifter wiggles. 915 Transmission.

My 915's shifter is really easy to move (left, right, into gear), but it also can move left and right while in gear. Is there something I need to adjust or are my bushing bad? If so, how would I go about replacing these bad parts.

Thanks,
John

No expert here but I would start with bushings, I did mine and it firmed the feel up a bit. Cheap enough and a fairly easy process. I think there's a tech article on Pelican's site for the steps. 4 bushings I believe.

Bushings at the shifter and/or shift coupler under plate on floor hump between rear seats. Lots of threads on this. Searching should get you lots of info. The coupler is easy to replace, but the bushiong are no so east especially the one on the shaft. I had mine replaced for about $125 incl parts and adjustment. Was really tight afterwards, no play.

Well, mine was tight... then it slowly became looser. After my brother drove it and popped it out of 3rd gear it has ben very loose.

Look in the Tech Info Center, under 911's, for this article "911 Shifting Improvements"

Also, while you have the plate covering the coupler off, make sure the allen screw on the backside of the coupler is tight. Sometimes it will loosen up and cause a lot of play.
