If you want to try this yourself, take the time to soak the nuts with PB blaster for about a week (spray them once or twice a day). This will be your best shot at minimizing the drama when you go to remove them.

All,
I still have the TR's on my car. I know they were designed to help the car run "hotter" so could pass US emissions. If replaced with SSI's is the advantage it runs cooler? Just need to understand before I lay out the funds. Thanks

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that when moving from a Thermal Reactor exhaust to SSI, that you also need to install the earlier ('74) style oil line, and a 2-Input muffler. While this is true for '75 & '76 911s (and SCs), it is not for the '77 TR cars as they already have the correct oil line and muffler. You will need to cap off the EGR pipe on the muffler (assuming you removed the EGR system as well).
You can think of this as the one (and only) bonus you get with TRs ![]()
