gage removal??????
Hello All,
Thanks again for all the help with my 83 SC project! I am trying to remove or actually straighten the gages, how do I do this? Yes...I did a search and after 20 mins gave up. Thanks mg ![]() |

They are push fit in the rubber seals. Use a paint scraper or similar, to carefully pry them out, once you have one out you can get your hand in and push them out from behind.

I tried just pulling them out and couldnt do it. I wasnt sure if there was a screw holding them from behind our ???

don't use any metal tool. Start with the clock, it's the easiest. Then work the speedometer out by pushing from the back of the gauge with your fingers. You can work your way over to the tach, then the oil pressure, etc etc.

If you grab the bezels with your finger tips, you should be able to wiggle them a little and then work them out.

If you're comfortable with taking your steering wheel off, you can have a lot more fun playing with your gauges, too.

+1 on the stering wheel pull. Makes getting the tach out a million times easier, and before you know it, you'll be replacing all the illumination bulbs, checking out the wiper mech, thinking of gauge upgrades...
