Looking to Turbo-look my '90 Cab - Need advice
I'm looking to turbo-look my '90 C2 Cab. I need advice concerning steel versus fiberglass flares. Should I purchase flares, rockers and bumpers or would I better be served purchasing turbo quarters and complete turbo front fenders? My second concern, is there advantages, other than weight and strength, between steel and fiberglass? Is either easier or harder to work with, (I will not be doing the work) and will one be more economical overall than the other?
Since I'm posting, does anyone recommend any particular vendors/suppliers of said parts? Pelican Parts suggested I pose this question to you since they believe they can no longer secure for a 964. And finally, does anyone know of a good, reputable, quality body shop in the Oklahoma City area that does this work? This is a new endeavor for me, but have always been partial to the turbo-look. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Don, if you go with the factory stuff, it's all bolt on except the rear flares. Fiberglass will probably be cheaper because of the parts prices.
I have a place in Edmond OK that I've used a few times with great results. Talk to Tim at Bodyworx. Here is one of his jobs. .

Thanks. You always tend to be there when I have questions. I bought the deck lid and bumper from you in December. That is a beautiful car. Bodyworx in Edmond did that particular speedster work? Do you have any of the parts needed? As always, I appreciate your help.

Don, Bodyworx did do that car for me. I have most of the parts but I have another Speedster that I am thinking of doing. Let me think about it.
Did your wife like the car? |

I can honestly say, I haven't gotten the car back yet. That's why I thought I would make these improvements before it's complete. The shop doing the job is an older gentleman who predominantly works on Porsches, and he takes things as they come. Although I don't need the car, I'd sure like to have it to drive. We overlook the timeliness issue because we like him and he does a good job at a reasonable price. But, no, with all things considered, the wife isn't real enthused by the whole thing. Hope to change her mind.
I'm reading a lot of other threads and some responses from Rennlist, and several posts claim that the cost to make the improvements are excessive. Not so much the parts as it is the labor. There are claims of $13,000 to $20,000 for such improvements. At that price, I could sell mine and save money in the end by purchasing a turbo-look "American Roadster". The gentleman working on the car doesn't agree with the desired changes because of increased drag and performance changes. Personally, I don't see myself driving at high speeds, so the changes are irrelevant and I would prefer a wider track for cornering. I just don't want to be buried in a car that I'll have, per others claims, $30,000 invested with a resale value of $20,000. What are your thoughts?

Another great example of what I'm trying to accomplish. My latest concern is the cost. Some say the cost is detrimental. What are your thoughts?
