Headlisht washer hoses blocked
I'm in the middle of fixing the all the "plumbing" associated with windshield and headlights. All the windshield stuff is pretty much done, but I'm having difficulty getting and flow to the head lights. I've tried hooking up a spray bottle, but a pretty good amount of pressure (surely more than the headlight pump can generate) does not get any flow. Is there a way to go after these that does not involve taking off the front valance?
I've taken out the blower for the front condensor and can access the split. Thoughts from the experts? Thanks! Brian |

Did you change the nozzles for the headlight washers? You'd be surprised how hard they can stick shut. Maybe soak 'em in a bowl of water and (cleaner of your choice) for a day or two.
Does the headlight washer system have check valves? If there are, you should replace them too. And when you get it working, you'll know. The headlight washer system has WAAAAY more pressure than the windshield system. It scared me the first time I got it to work. Just a dummy check: You know the headlight washers only work then the headlights are turned ON, right? (just checking)

No Dummy - didn't know this until a week ago...
Thanks for the reminder, but yes, I knew (as of about 7 days ago when I got deep into this) that the headlights needed to be on. Connector for pump was disconnected.
Is there a way to pull the sprayers without pulling the bumper? Brian |

Just so I'm clear, the pump being connected did not fix the problem - the headlight sprayer tubes are clogged. Is there a way to pull the sprayers from the outside?
Thanks! Brian |

I'm not sure; I didn't have to replace mine. My "guess" is that you would have to get behind them. Perhaps you could try pulling the turn signal/running light assemblies and see if that gives you any access.
Can you hear the motor run when you push the button? edit: And what year of car?

From the inside the wheel arch I used a socket + universal joint set to remove the two nuts that hold the indicator lights in place. Once you remove them, access to the washer jets is easy.

Fixed... sort of...
Left side nozzle works fine. Right side sometimes. You can access the left nozzle with the windshield washer tank out. I'm not going to go after the right side one now. Weather's too nice and I need to do some driving!
