Turning on the high beams on a 66 kill the lights totally
I don't know why but whenever I go to switch on my high beams looking for more light both headlights go out. It doesn't matter whether I push the stalk forward or pull it back for high beams, it will turn off the lights either way. Sometimes the lights will go to high beam for a very short time like 2 mintues then go dark. When this happens I have to go back to low beams which always work. Please help me, this is on a 1966 Porsche if that helps.

Oh and the lights are sealed beams and obviously not burnt out if they come on from time to time but usually go black.

If your '66 is anything like my '84, the first place I would look is the turn signal/high beam switch. Others on the board have fixed their switches. I replaced mine when I had similar symptoms.
Good luck.

I don't know '66 specifics, but I would check corrosion on your fuses. I have had similar problems which was fixed with cleaning of the fuse and fuse block. On my '69 the high beams have fuses for the left and right lights.

Not sure if the switch is the same on a '66 but I think so.
Check out this thread: Turn signal switch repair I attempted the fix but it didn't work for me as I think my switch was too far gone. I ended up just replacing it. This may be your issue as well. Good lunk.
