FYI - my mechanic has a Boxster in his shop...the engine is broken. It has been sitting there inside for months.. not sure if he still has it. The last I knew the owner was trying to decide what to do... sell or find an engine and have it put in. I'm not sure of the year.
if interested call Don Wise in at Don's AutoWerks in Campbell CA

Thanks very much for sharing your fabrication process. I put an SVX in my son's '77 911S about 3 years ago. Because of illness, I haven't finished the process, but hopefully with your inspiration and my improved health, I'll finish it this summer.
I also put a Nissan 3.0 V6 in my other son's '75 914. Both of these are sweet cars.
For the purists, I also have a '79 911 SC Targa with matching numbers.
Did you sell your SC? Have you started the Boxster?

I sold the SC to a gentleman in New York, and the Boxster is almost done.

Is there a thread on the Boxster?

kcpaz 02-26-2009 07:14 PM

Actually there is...

Cool, wish i could see the pics!

Are you still planning to put a Subaru engine in a Boxster?

hawaiipcar 04-25-2009 01:57 PM

Not sure how I have missed this thread but it rocks I wish I had seen it from the start. Good luck on you boxter build.

Boxster has turned into a Boxster Spec race car. It's pretty much done now.

wow, nice fab work. Tig welded cage? They really let you tie the cage to the chassis it seems. Are you balancing the crank in the middle pic? How much is gained there? or, how far out was it?

andybullen 04-07-2010 07:14 PM

planning something similar for my S/C.... nice work

alwaysflat6s 10-03-2017 12:00 PM

Very impressive work. My only regret is that you never did a Subie flat 6 swap in a Boxster. I suspect there would be a lot more demand for such a kit, particularly if it were set up to be smog legal in states such as.... gaaaaaa, California. I think if a kit were set up to please the California B.A.R. it would be legal everywhere. I mention this as you may someday find this of interest and the supply of Boxsters with broken engines seems to at least equal the supply of over priced and questionable Boxster engines. Meanwhile, thanks for a great read.

Just spent more time than I should have reading this entire thread. First and foremost, thank you for your consideration in sharing, patience in answering and diligence in updating. These are the posts that make forums good.

That all being said, any chance you would be willing to mock up another set of these parts? A buddy and I have something cool brewing for SEMA next year. Rolling chassis is already acquired as of Wednesday.

We have been in touch with Todd at Subaru Gears as the converted Subaru turbo 5-speed boxes seem much more practical and economical, not to mention abundant. It looks like the iWire guys now do a harness merge as well. Thanks for your time, I appreciate it and look forward to hearing back from you at your convenience. Wow, what a great read. With the price of Porsche rebuilds going through the roof A kit would be amazing.

Amazing, it’s 2019 now and took me 3 days to read though this entire thread. Absolutely awesome and outstanding skill in the build quality of the porscharu. I’m probably 12 years too late but I would love to buy a kit for 911 roller.

rennch 04-09-2020 05:06 PM

I'm working on one now, as I'm putting a Subaru EZ30R into my "Blasphemy Build" YouTube project. My hope is to create a cradle that can be duplicated, or perhaps a whole kit of parts.
