Proper tension on feeler gauge during valve adjustment?
I just adjusted my valves and now they are louder than ever. I held the feeler gauge in place and tightened down on the screw until I could feel a fair amount of drag on the feeler gauge. I rechecked all of the exhaust valves when I was done and I could reinsert the feeler gauge and could feel some tension. I couldn't reinsert the gauge on the intake valves but I used the same process on them. I'm feeling really discouraged here. I'm about to break down and take this car to a shop. I hate having wasted $70 in Mobil 1 oil.

look at the "other" post of yours where you ask about broken valve cover studs, and how to find TDC...
I provide some answers as well as suggesting ANOTHER method for adjusting valves that I believe will be MUCH easier. Take a look... Broken valve cover studs!! - Wil

I use a .003 inch feeler guage so I don't have to guess how tight to have the .004 guage. You haven't wasted the oil. Just jack up one side at a time to adjust valves and very little oil will come out.
