Finally got around to pulling these blowers as fuses to both had blown during PO's watch...a pen had fallen into one squirrel cage; probably casued motor to seize...good reason for a fuse, non? The passenger side blower appears OK; cage spins...looks like it needs lubrication.
Does the motor come out of the plastic housing? There's no set screw on the cage to attach it to the motor shaft and there doesn't appear to be a seam under the cage to allow the whole assembly to push through. Looks to be all one piece...am I missing something?

From what I remember, the cage is pressed onto the motor shaft....and quite tightly, too. I tried to remove the cage by prying it off but was afraid I might break the plastic housing. This set-up prevents the motor from being easily removed from the assembly. The back end of the motor shaft can be accessed to apply some lubricant to the bushing but the front end (nearest the cage) is more of a challenge. I drilled a small hole in the cage as near to the shaft as I could and this allowed me to drip some thin oil onto the shaft and let it run down to the bushing. This helped but I still get some squealing when it's really cold out.
