I just picked up two from a supplier in North Vancouver, right next to Targa Performance on Welch Street, he had to order them but it only took a couple of days. They fit and work great.

Herman, I ran Sonnenschein Gel Cells...these are a german made battery that match the original fit exactly. All my car files are with Evren in Istanbul now. If memory serves, they are available through a company called Fort Lauderdale Battery in Florida...

They weren't cheap, but they fit perfectly and totally eliminate the fear of acid spill and fumes eating your car and/or carpeting.

Odyssey PC925 will fit and work with the stock tie downs. They make one with a vertical mount. YOu might need a small spacer block behind the battery to take up space.

you may have goofed. Are the Porsche batteries gel-cell, or liquid acid? I'm really sold on the gel-cell technology. Going by a fading memory, but I think I paid around $400 for the Sonnenschiens. Kept them fully charged with a battery tender, loved 'em!

Thanks again for the reply but I think I goofed again ..... I canceled my order with Porsche right after reading all your replys and I just bought 2 Odyssey DRY CELL batteries locally. I dont know how good these batteries are but I will have them tomorrow morning VS next week with the porsche ones .

PWD- If I had more time I would look into your gel batteries, my next car will have these. Thanks.

thanks again for all the replys I have been trying 2 days to try and find a battery that fits with NO LUCK...

2 odysse PC925's on there way

Herman,
I would have suggested reviewing the archives before you pulled the trigger. According to Odyssey specs:

Cold Cranking Amps: 380
Dimensions: 6 5/8" x 7.0" x 4 15/16"
Weight: 25.5 pounds

In your cold climate, you might be better served by using a battery/batteries with a higher cold cranking spec. There's also a weight penalty of 50+ lbs. with the two Odysseys, if that is of any consequence.

For example, a single Optima, also a sealed-type, weighs approx. 35 lbs. and has a cold cranking amp rating of 800. However, installing this requires some fabricated brackets to secure it on it's side.

Replaced batteries in my 73 last month
Found replacement batteries at Davidson Battery Service at 550 E. Broadway, Vancouver; they had a special on so I saved about $14 on each battery. Battery that fits the early 911 battery box is a Davidson SMF53646. Cost of each was about 102.00 with 13% taxes.
