electrical

1975 911 carrera alternator light on very dim. Had alternator rebuilt with no change. Replaced external volt regulator no results. Replaced volt regulator second time and light stayed off for 20 minutes. Checked for shorts and continuity and car is charging. When car is started light is bright and when reving engine light is very dim. HELP!!

what did they do when they R and R ed your alternator , sounds like you have a back leaking diode in your bridge.

This is NOT a problem, merely an indication of resistance buildup due to oxidation or corrosion in the #61 Blue wire circuit between dash lamp and field windings connection at alternator. Clean the bulb holder with a good metal polish, clean the Faston tabs, and female Faston connectors!!!

Check your system Voltage while running normally. I think you will find it to be between 13.2 & 14.5 Volts.
