rear reflectors

Hello,

I have an 1981 911sc that I am updating to a c2 964 look.

Suffice it to say, I wanna get rid of the bold black lettered reflector...what are my options?

I found one on ebay for a 87 911 turbo w/o lettering but will it fit?

The euro ones are without the lettering correct?

if I just buy a 964 reflector, will it fit with proper corner tail lights?

Thanks for the help!

You can make it fit, but you will have to do some cutting. I've done this on my 76 and it came out nice. You will also need the 964 taillights. The whole setup is a little thicker and slightly angled. Let me know if you need pics.

What condition is your current black letter reflector in? If it's in good shape, it could fetch well north of $200 depending on condition. These are NLA and for whatever reason, get hacked up, cracked, badly scratched, etc. and therefore good ones go for top $.

My standard reflector is in excellent condition, I just think the black lettering screams "old"...I know the purist are screaming but my car is never gonna be a barrett-jackson auction piece so I'd like to just enjoy it the way I want it.

Yes mate...standard...Not sure when they got rid of the black lettering. There was a new one for sale here on Aus Ebay a few weeks ago. I seem to remember another thread giving a supplier that provided different colurs as well.

the reflector on Dave's car is U.S. 87-89. Attaches a little differently than 74-86, but nothing more than clip difference...no body mods needed.

For US:
74-84: Big, black letter
85-86: Big red letter
87-89: small red letter

The good news Rob is that the 87-89 reflector is rarely more than $100 in excellent shape.

This is a 964 type, which will need work to make it fit. he 87-89 is your best bet as it is pretty much a bolt on.

yeah, thats what I am thinking...Hey Rod, I am going with a 964 c2 kit to update the look but the buckets for the fog ligbhts and turn signals have no hardware, cut-outs etc...do you have a c2 front bumper? and if so, did you just fabricate everything? thanks for everyone's responses

Here is the front view. The rear is the only area that will need to be fabbed. The only thing I would suggest is that if you want all the pieces to match, you will need to go to C2 lights and reflector to match the bumpers. (If that matters to you) If you go to the C2 rear lights, you will need to do some minor cutting/bending of the frame that mounts the box, as the C2 lights are a little bit bigger. As for the front, my ft bumper already had the cut-outs, so the turn signals and air ducts fit right in.

well, my front has the molded impressions for the lights but there are no cut-outs at all...kinda stinks actually. I don't know what to do...as for reinforcements etc, it is excellent stuff...very high quality but as I said, nothing but the molded buckets but no holes etc.

I think I remember having to use a hole saw and drill out the holes as needed. Its not too hard.
