Question Recaro sliders--is this a scam or what?

Just put in some Recaro Sports. They are bottom mount seats and the sliders are more or less identical to the 16" wide sliders Porsche has used from 1974-1998. The holes on the seat are 16" apart. The holes on the floor are 16" apart.

Yet the extremely expensive Recaro branded sliders that are supposedly specific to mounting this seat in Porsches don't even fit without drilling holes in them. And they didn't include the proper hardware. And they had components and instructions that were clearly for several different cars. I ended up not using half the stuff in the box.

I feel like I've been had.

I'm sure that many other aftermarket bottom mount sport seats use a 16" width between their sliders--Sparco for one. heck, OE sliders from a manual seat 911 would work fine too.

So what's the conventional wisdom here? Do most people just use Sparco sliders (on Ebay very cheap)? Is there a good aftermarket slider?

Hmm, that's odd, I mounted Recaro Pole Positions in my 911 w/ Recaro sliders and it all just bolted right up.

Could it have been a close, but not quite right part # maybe?

Mine went into an SC if that's any help.

I had the same experience as Rob, installing Pole Positions with Recaro sliders in my 1973 911E. Bolts right up.

I just installed a pair of Recaro SRD's in my SC using stock sliders. Carrera sliders would work as well.

Not PPs. Regular bottom mounted sport seats.

Its a good idea with competition seats (fixed-back or reclining) to use double-locking sliders. Most street car sliders are single locking. For racing/track cars, if you have to use sliders, double lockers are best. Some sanctioning bodies might require them-- I cannot remember.
